Peru Nature Experience 9 Days & 8 Nights

You’ll spend two nights at the exclusive Lodge Amazon learning about the wildlife from naturalists before exploring the Urubamba Valley, gazing awestruck at Machu Picchu and interacting with the locals in Cusco and Lima. Itinerary

Day 1: Lima/Puerto Maldonado

I hope you had a smooth arrival to Peru. It’s always good to have some time to settle in before starting your activities.

Meeting your tour leader and your fellow group members at your arrival at 8.00 am am in Puerto Maldonado is a great way to start the day. You can get to know each other and discuss any questions or concerns you may have about the tour, while you are getting pick up in order to start a exiting adventure in the amazon rainforest

Overall, it sounds like you have a fun and exciting itinerary ahead of you. Enjoy your trip, remember to pack appropriately for your trip to the Amazon rainforest, including insect repellent, comfortable clothing, and sturdy shoes for hiking. It’s also a good idea to bring a hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle.

When you arrive in Puerto Maldonado, you will be picked up at the airport and taken to the office of the Lodge Amazon, where you may have the opportunity to rest and have a drink before continuing on to the community. The bus ride to the community may take some time, but you’ll be rewarded with beautiful views of the rainforest along the way.

Once you reach the community, you’ll transfer to a motorized canoe for the final leg of your journey to the Lodge Amazon. Upon arrival, you’ll be able to settle into your comfortable and exclusive accommodations and begin your guided excursions with expert naturalists.

Remember to follow the safety guidelines provided by the lodge staff and respect the natural environment during your stay. Enjoy your adventure in the Amazon rainforest!

Day 2: Tambopata

Enjoy visits to oxbow lakes and small clay licks to learn about the jungle and its inhabitants. Be introduced to the area’s rich flora and fauna by expert naturalist guides, who can teach extensive uses for medicinal and other forest plant resources through traditional techniques. Be prepared to go early morning or evening to avoid the heat of midday. Enjoy a leisurely pace – the trip requires some walking, but nothing too strenuous.

Day 3: Tambopata/Cusco

It sounds like you have a full day ahead! Starting your day with breakfast is a great way to fuel up for your travels. After breakfast, you’ll take a boat transfer from the Lodge Amazon to Puerto Maldonado for your flight to Cusco.

Cusco is a beautiful city located in the Andes Mountains of Peru, known for its rich history and Incan arqueological sites. When you arrive in Cusco, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the city’s many plazas, shops, and markets during your free time. Be sure to check out the famous Plaza de Armas, which is surrounded by historic buildings and is a popular gathering spot for locals and tourists alike.

There are many other interesting sights to see in Cusco as well, including the Cathedral of Cusco, the Qorikancha Temple, and the San Pedro Market. You can also explore the narrow streets and alleys of the city’s old town, which are filled with shops, restaurants, and galleries.

Be sure to take breaks and stay hydrated during your exploration of Cusco, as the high altitude can be taxing on the body. And don’t forget to try some of the delicious Peruvian cuisine, which is known for its fresh ingredients and unique flavors. Enjoy your time in Cusco!

Day 4: Cusco/Aguas Calientes

Travel to Ollantaytambo making a stop along the way to the Caccaccollo and the Planeterra Women’s Weaving co-op. Here your family can meet the women who are part of the co-op and learn about traditional weaving methods. Once in Ollantaytambo catch the train to Aguas Calientes. Settle in and explore the town, taking time to look at the local handicrafts.

Day 5: Machu Picchu/Cusco

Explore the ruins of Machu Picchu with a local guide. Transfer back to Cusco by train and van.

Day 7: Cusco

Visit the chocolate Museum in Cusco and learn all about the history and origin story behind the truffle. Enjoy a hands-on demonstration and make your own sweet dessert. After, spend a free afternoon in Cusco. Choose to visit museums or the famous Sacsayhuaman ruins that tower over the city.

Day 8: Cusco/Lima

Enjoy the morning in Cusco before flying to Lima. Opt for a traditional dinner.
