Your journey begins in the early morning with a personalized hotel pick-up in Cusco. As part of our private Peru tours, this service is tailored to small groups or individual travelers who value attention to detail and flexibility.
Next, you’ll be transferred in a comfortable, private vehicle to the Ollantaytambo train station, located in the heart of the Sacred Valley. The drive takes approximately 2 hours. Along the way, you will enjoy scenic views of the Andes, traditional villages, and agricultural terraces that tell the story of ancient Inca engineering and modern Andean life.

In Ollantaytambo, you will board a comfortable tourist train that follows the scenic course of the Urubamba River. The journey to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo) lasts approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, offering breathtaking views of cloud forests, towering mountains, and remnants of ancient Inca trails.
The train ride is an experience in itself, featuring spacious seating and large panoramic windows. These allow you to fully appreciate the dramatic landscapes of the Sacred Valley. It’s a smooth, relaxing way to transition from the high Andes into the lush environment surrounding Machu Picchu.
Meanwhile, your private guide will share insights into the history, geography, and cultural importance of the region. This helps you connect more deeply with the land and its stories before arriving at the majestic citadel.

Terrific Travel Guide – Empe
Empe is a great guide. Can’t You cannot go wrong with her.
December 2023, my cousin and I were looking lost in the main plaza in Cusco when Empe approached us. We looked lost because we were lost. Empe took us under her wing, showed us the city and arranged for us to see Machu Picchu early the next morning. Everything went flawlessly. Having been given no notice at all, she arranged for a 4:30 AM departure the next morning for Machu Picchu. What a fantastic trip that was. Her English is flawless. Her knowledge of her country is deep. On top of that she is a fun and lively person. By far and away she is the finest guide my cousin and I have ever had on our travels around the world. You cannot go wrong choosing her to put together and guide a tour for you.
