Itinerary

Day 1: Arrived

I hope you had a smooth arrival to Peru. It’s always good to have some time to settle in before starting your activities.

Meeting your tour leader and your fellow group members at your arrival at 8.00 am am in Puerto Maldonado is a great way to start the day. You can get to know each other and discuss any questions or concerns you may have about the tour, while you are getting pick up in order to start a exiting adventure in the amazon rainforest

Day 2: Lima/Puerto Maldonado


  • Arrive in Puerto Maldonado, capital of Madre de Dios, and join a 2 hours journey by bus and boat to the lodge. Your first taste of the Amazon culinary will be in the river while you let the city behind to enjoy the amazing jungle landscapes
  • – a spacious ecolodge, with a bar, center, and buffet service in the heart of a private concession own by the Native Community of Infierno, the guardians of the rainforest.
  • Accommodation includes a room with a private bathroom and in the middle of the forest.
  • Your stay includes three meals daily, teas, coffee, guided excursions and activities, refreshments upon arriving, and transfers to and from the airport. 
  •  This afternoon join a first activivity for afternoon walk in the midle of the forest to be in contact with the Nature and see wild animals.

DAY 3: Explore the oxbow lake

  • Wildlife in the Amazon takes advantage of the first lights of the day as it is cooler, so we do. Even you are on vacation there will be some activities that our guides encourage you to make it very early in the morning and it’s worth it.
  • Tres Chimbadas oxbow lake is thirty minutes by boat and forty-five minutes hiking from Posada Amazonas. Once there paddle around the lake in a catamaran, searching for the resident family of nine giant river otters (seen by 60% of our lake visitors) and other lakeside wildlife such as caiman, hoatzin and horned screamers. Otters are most active from dawn to eight or nine AM.
  • an afternoon walk through out the forest and wild medicinal plants.
  • You will have the option of a night walk when most of the mammals are active but rarely seen. Is much easier to find are frogs with shapes and sounds as bizarre as their natural histories.

DAY 4

  • It is time to say goodbye, as the expedition comes to an end.
  • Your visit will make a direct contribution to the Native Community of Infierno in its efforts to protect Tambopata.
  • You will take the journey back to the city to the airport for your national flight onwards Cusco.

Day 4: Puerto Maldonado/Cusco.

Hop on a flight to Cusco. Enjoy a free day of shopping and exploring the city. Choose to pre-book the Cusco Cooking Class. Opt for a city tour.

Day 5: Inca Trail

Depart Ollantaytambo by van to km 82 where the Inca Trail begins. Ease into the adventure with a straightforward day of hiking the meandering streams, stunning Andean scenery, and ancient Incan ruins.

Day 6: Inca Trail

Start early to climb the long steep path to Warmiwañusca, better known as Dead Woman’s Pass. This is the highest point of the trek at 4,198m (13,769 ft). Most hikers reach camp by early afternoon, with ample time to rest and relax.

Day 7: Inca Trail

Cross two more passes and ruins on today’s trek. The first pass is Runquraqay at 3,950m (13,113 ft) where, on a clear day, hikers can catch a glimpse of the snow-capped Cordillera Vilcabamba. Hike through the cloud forest on a gentle climb to the second pass of the day, walking through original Incan constructions. The highest point of the pass is 3,700m (12,136 ft). On a clear day, enjoy the spectacular views of the Urubamba Valley. At 3,650m (11,972 ft), reach the ruins of Phuyupatamarca, the “town above the clouds.” Camp here or go another 1.5 hrs to the Wiñay Wayna ruins (“forever young”) located at 2,650m (8,694 ft).

Day 8: Machu Picchu/Cusco

The final day of the hike starts pre-dawn to reach the Sun Gate before sunrise. Catch the first views of the breathtaking ruins of Machu Picchu on a clear day. Hike down for a guided tour of the ruins, before your train back to Cusco.

Day 9: Cusco

Continue to explore Cusco on a free day in the city.
