This excursion to the sacred valley of the Incas begins in Cusco and we continue to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, on the Vilcanota river, for a panoramic view of the Inca citadel of Pisac and visit to the typical typical market of Pisac, where we will have the opportunity to get to know the customs of its inhabitants closely, then we headed to the city of Urubamba, traveling on the banks of the Vilcanota river.
The Sacred Valley of the Incas tour is one of the most popular day trips from Cusco Express , offering travelers a perfect combination of history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. The journey begins with hotel pickups between 6:30 and 7:00 am, depending on your location in Cusco, before heading north toward the first destination.
Our adventure starts in Chinchero (3,762 meters), the highest point of the Sacred Valley of the Incas tour. Here, you’ll visit the archaeological site, admire traditional Andean life, and explore textile and craft centers where locals still practice ancient weaving techniques.
Next, we continue to Moray, a unique archaeological site once used by the Incas as an agricultural experimentation center. The impressive circular terraces, set within a natural depression, created microclimates that allowed the Incas to adapt crops to different environments.
Our next stop is the famous Maras Salt Mines, one of the most fascinating highlights of the Sacred Valley of the Incas tour. With over 3,000 dazzling salt pools still worked by local families, this site showcases techniques passed down since Inca times.
We then continue to Urubamba, where you will have free time to enjoy lunch in the heart of the valley before exploring more iconic Inca sites.
After lunch, we arrive at Ollantaytambo, often called the “Living Inca City.” This vibrant town is known for its impressive ruins, bustling markets, and local people who descend from highland communities to trade. It remains one of the most authentic stops in the Sacred Valley of the Incas tour.
Our final visit takes us to Pisac, an Inca city famous for its vast agricultural terraces, ceremonial water fountains, and remarkable stone structures built into the mountainside.
The Sacred Valley of the Incas tour concludes with a scenic drive back to Cusco, arriving around 7:00 pm.
