Itinerary

We will begin our tour with a pick-up time between 6:30 – 7:00 am from different hotels or hostels, and then head towards the southern area of the city to reach the town of Cusipata, which is located at an altitude of 3,332 masl. The journey from the city to Cusipata will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. From there, we will continue for another hour until we reach the viewpoint of Phulawasipata, which is situated at an altitude of 4633 masl or 15200 fasl. This viewpoint is where our adventure will begin, and we will prepare to start our hike, which will take about an hour and a half to complete, covering a distance of 3.5 km or 2.17 miles to reach the mountain top. Once we reach the top, we will be greeted with a panoramic view of the sector.

As we trek along the way, we will come across the snowy Wiñayritty and a small lagoon called “Puka Cocha.” This part of the walk will be uphill, but not too complicated. However, it is essential to breathe well, as we will be at a high altitude. Once we reach the Vinicunca Mountain of Colors, which is located at an altitude of 5070 masl or 16633 fasl, we will explore it with the help of our tour guide. Following this, you will have free time to enjoy the landscape and take some wonderful photographs or simply marvel at the scenery.

If you wish to continue your walk, you can visit the viewpoint of the Red Valley, which is about 20 minutes away. However, an additional fee is required to enter this viewpoint. From there, you will get a view of the valley behind the mountain, which is colored in the most reddish tones due to the terrain or its vastness.

After exploring the Mountain of Colors, we will return by the same road to Phulawasipata, where we will take the vehicle to say goodbye to the Apu Winicunca and head back to Cusipata.
